lyrics

~~ Fallow Fields ~~

A writers pen strikes the page
The curtain draws, a hero takes the stage
Like Yvain of ancient days
Even heroes lose their way
Beyond the pen to save

A soldier dons her uniform
The medals on her breast shine like the dawn
The bugle sounds its call
A tune once strong now weak, forlorn
Marching heavy and alone

A bishop sure as day turns night
Of the way, the truth and of the light
Until one day he wakes to find
Breathing hard the book unkind
His prayer a silent night

Plan is to draft memory
But every arborist can see
Though fallow fields inviting be
Not every seed becomes a tree
